Got my Sprite through its MOT today. After checking it over, adjusting the washers and changing the black plates for a set of white and yellows I went of for the dreaded MOT. ohmy.gif One hour later it had failed, to much CO on the emissions. angry.gif So off I went back to my lock up and some adjusting of the mixture. After much fiddling and sniffing of exhaust gas yucky.gif I went back to the MOT station. They stuck the probe up the exhaust and found that I had gone to far the other way, CO ok, but to many hydrocarbons. As I had my magic screw driver with me I asked if I could give it a tweak whilst the probe was inserted (no laughing at the back now) and low and behold after a bit of a tweak everything was OK.
As some of you may know my Sprite is a 1993 and should have a CAT (no not a pussy) but I got MiniSport to remove it when they did my stage 1 kit. So it is possible to get a 1993 carb Mini MOT'd without a CAT. biggrin.gif By the way it was not running as good after the adjustments so I will be re-tweaking the carb to the richer more powerful setting tomorrow, and refitting the better looking black plates. Those white and yellow ones just don’t look right. wink.gif

Have to admit I did give off a little giggle reading this

Nice one! Always good to hear of an easy MOT pass.
There are quite a few places who are happy to let you play about with the mixture to get them through, but there are some who are nerbs!

My mayfair is a 1993 carb and it does not require a CAT for its MOT.

The reccy was done today (Tuesday). The route is 140-150 miles and I did it in 3 hours 50 minutes. I measured it from the junction of the junction of the A167 and A690 and back. I made a couple of small errors and I have not decided on the start position yet. The roads were dry today so I had lots of fun. I'll bring my plans to the meeting on Thursday.
