Yesterday (Saturday) I braved the cold weather yet again and went to the Malcolm Wilson Rally. This is a forest stage rally held in Lake District and is based in Cockermouth. It consisted of 7 Special Stages and the entry consisted of mainly modern cars with a couple of classics.
First off I was at the Comb stage (SS2) and then in the afternoon I went to the second running of the Greystoke Stage (SS7). In the morning at Comb the sun was trying to break through the clouds and the road was almost dry. This meant as each car came past there was a scattering of gravel stones which made for some great pictures.
At Greystoke the road was still icy and very wet with melting snow. When I arrived a Subaru, which had had an off in the morning run of the stage, was being pulled out of a ditch after slipping on the ice. Later on I saw an EVO go into a slide at this bend and wreck its rear axle. This rally must have been a bit of a difficult one as by the time the cars ran the last stage about 40% of the entry had withdrawn.
As usual here are a couple of pictures and a link to a video from the day’s events.

There was a lot of MG ZR's to be seen...

...and some little Peugeots as well.

On the classic front there was a couple of Escorts...

...and an Opel.

And to bring things bang upto date there was some Focus WRCs...

...some EVOs...

...and a few of the latest Imprezas.

Shame I'm a Dad with promises to keep, as I'd promised to take the boys to spend birthday money & gift vouchers on Saturday. Otherwise I'd have loved to go.
